Ventilating Children

Use pediatric breathing circuit
Connecting the breathing circuit
1 Connect 0.5 L breathing bag with connector to the
breathing hose with the large connection sleeves.
Slip breathing hose over the elbow connector. Hang
breathing bag onto the hook.
2 Slip breathing hoses with the large cuffs onto the
inspiratory and expiratory ports and connect the small
cuffs to the Y-piece.
3 Connect the sample line to the Y-piece and water
trap.

Set the sample rate to 200 mL/min, page 96.

Increase tidal volume V

to compensate for the
sample gas flow.
Volumeter function:
●
Select "child" scale, page 80.
Self-test and leak test:
4 Firmly connect the Y-piece to the cone.

Determine the system compliance and leak-test,
see page 58.
When using CMV mode:
The system compliance will automatically be compen-
sated to ensure that the delivered tidal volume corre-
sponds to the volume setting.
●
Use PCV or CMV mode.
