1 Julian essentially carries out the following automatic
tests and actions, which are coded:
The following list gives an overview of the main steps
of the self test:
Electronics – gas analyzer test and calibration
(incl. Monitoring) – O2-sensor test and calibration
– PAW-sensor test and calibration
– flow sensor check
– backup battery check
– restoring of default settings for
alarm limits, monitoring parameters,
ventilator settings, and fresh gas
flow control settings
Fresh Gas – gas supplies check(O2, Air, N2O)
Flow Control – gas inlet valves check
– pressure sensors calibration
– flow control valve calibration
– pressure release valve test
– check for closed Safety O
2

– fresh gas shortage detection check
Ventilator – Testing and calibration of
PEEP/Pmax valves
– Testing of safety valve
– Testing of MAN/AUTO switch-over
valve
– Testing of breathing phase valve
– Testing of internal pressure sensor
– Determination of compliance and
leakage
NOTE: If, during the self test, any malfunction or missing
gases are detected, a respective advisory will be
displayed on the screen.
In some cases, the user has a choice of accepting the
malfunction or of repeating that part of the self test
(example: AIR supply not connected).
In other cases, the user has to remedy the problem
before the self test can continue (example: O
2
supply not
connected).
