How to adjust the instrument
Ask the patient to look at the yellow fixation light at all times. If the
patient cannot see the fixation light, let him or her look straight ahead
into the instrument. When you turn on the anterior chamber depth
mode, the system automatically activates lateral slit illumination. The
illumination is always coming from a temporal direction to the eye.
The slit illumination will subjectively appear bright to the patient. The
measured values of the light load, however, (see
Technical Data, p.
88
)
is smaller by some orders of magnitude compared to slit lamp
examinations.
When you release the measurement, the lateral slit illumination starts
flickering.
(Note: Looking into the slit projector is under no circumstances dangeĆ
rous but it will lead to erroneous anterior chamber depth values.)

On the display, an image similar to that of a slit lamp is visible. It repreĆ
sents an optical section through the anterior segment of the eye. Align
the instrument to the patient's eye by lateral adjustment using the
joystick until:
q
The image of the fixation point appears optimally focused in the
square on the display,
q
the image of the cornea (outer or temporal of the two optical secĆ
tions) is relatively free of reflections (although unsharp is ok) and
q
the image of the anterior crystalline lens is visible in the pupil.
Note:
The image of the fixation point should be near (but not in!) the
image of the lens.
