Centering the stage
When objectives with a high magnification are
used, centering can be exact for one selected
objective only.
All stages are factory-precentered, i.e. a set
specimen detail remains in the image center even
when the stage is rotated. If the image detail moves
from the image center (2-35/
5
) after stage rotation,
recentering should be performed as follows:
•
Loosen stage clamping screw (2-35/
4
) and
screwing cap of the stage carrier (2-35/
1
)
•
Rotate the stage to determine the maximum
specimen deflection (2-35/
5
, tip of the arrow) in
the direction of the eyepiece reticle.
•
Reset the two centering screws on the stage
carrier (2-35/
2
) using one SW 1.5 Allen
screwdriver (2-35/
3
) each to move the specimen
detail by half the arrow length in the direction of
the crossline center. Check whether specimen
detail moves when the stage is rotated again;
repeat the procedure, if required.
•
When centering is finished, tighten screwing cap
(2-35/
1
) again.
d)
Extending the y-travel range
The rotary mechanical stage is factory-aligned to a
y-travel range of 28 mm, an x-range of 75 mm,
and a rotary range of 240°. The y-travel range can
be increased to 50 mm. However, this limits the
rotation range to 100°. Proceed as follows to
perform the conversion:
•
Tighten stage clamping screw (2-35/
4
).
•
Remove mechanical stage and place it on its
underside.
•
Remove stop screw (2-36/
2
) from the stage
underside.
•
Rescrew stop screw from the 240° marking
(2-36/
3
) to the 100° marking (2-36/
1
).
