Moving the Printer
Follow these procedures when moving the printer.
Before moving the printer, do the following:
1. Turn the printer off and disconnect the power cord and other cables from the back of the printer.
2. Wait for the printer to cool down, about 20 minutes.
3. If your printer has an auto document feeder, remove any paper or other media from the feeder or
output tray.
4. Remove the dust cover and paper from Tray 1 and then close Tray 1.
5. If your printer configuration includes the 500-sheet feeder, remove it and its lower feeder unit by
lifting the printer off it.
Warning:
To avoid injury, use two people to lift the printer off the lower feeder unit.
6. If your printer configuration includes the duplex unit (and attachment, if you do not have the 500-
sheet feeder), remove these and move them separately. For instructions on how to remove the
duplex unit, see the
Remove Duplex Unit
instruction sheet in the documentation packet that came
with the printer.
When moving the printer:
•
Always use two people to lift and move the printer.
•
When lifting the printer, grasp the areas as shown in the figure.
•
Do not tilt the printer more than 10 degrees to the front or back, or left or right. Tilting the printer
more than 10 degrees may cause toner spillage.
Notes:
•
Failure to repackage the printer properly for shipment can result in damage to the printer not
covered by the warranty, service agreement, or Total Satisfaction Guarantee.
•
Damage to the printer caused by improper moving is not covered by the Xerox warranty, service
agreement, or Total Satisfaction Guarantee.
