Using the Grayscale Image Print Mode for Performance
DocuSP affords the user the ability to select the Grayscale Image
Print Mode from the Setup Menu: System Preferences...: Job
Policy tab.
Supported Options:
•
Minimum Cost Option: If the user chooses Slow - Bill as
Black Only option, the system will run jobs containing color
and “black only” pages as normal. Any “black only” pages
encountered in the job stream would be printed in the
Grayscale Image Print Mode, and would be billed at the lower
black and white rate. However, switches from the black to
color mode will force skipped pitches and result in reduced
performance.
•
Maximum Performance Option: If the user chooses Fast -
Bill as Color, the system will not differentiate between “black
only” and full color pages. The 2045/2060 IOT will not switch
into the Grayscale Image Print Mode when encountering a
“black only” page; therefore, no skipped pitches and no
reduction in performance would be incurred. However, all
“black only” pages will be billed at the higher color rate.
To select your preference to use or not to use this option, perform
the following steps:
1. From the DocuSP Main GUI window, select [Setup: System
Preferences...].
2. Within the System Preferences window, select the Job Policy
tab.
3. Within the Grayscale Image Print Mode area, select either
[Fast - Bill as Color] or [Slow - Bill as Black Only]. The Fast
selection is the default and will be selected automatically if you
do not make a choice.
Using ICC Profiles
The ICC Profile translates colors between the device independent
Profile Connection Space and a Device Specific Color Space. ICC
Profiles can be either embedded within the input data, or it can be
loaded at the controller by the user. The ICC Profile is used to
transform incoming data into the PCS color space and that is used
to map the device-independent color to press-specific CMYK data
for printing.
Setting up an Input ICC Profile
ICC Source Profiles can be applied by page, job or queue.
