d. Select a Font Renderer to specify which renderer will be
used to process PostScript jobs containing Adobe Type 1
scalable fonts.
If you select [Xerox Font Solution], you must also set
controls for thickening and bitting.
–
Thickening: defines, in pixels, how much thickening or
darkening should be applied to the font.
–
Minimum Thickening: defines the width of a minimum
stroke in pixels. This setting only thickens strokes that
are less than the minimum value in width.
–
Half Bitting: determines how aggressively the
software processes text to remove digital edge
roughness. For most observers, the primary effect of
changing this control from Light to Full will be an
apparent darkening of extremely fine text.
e. Select [OK] when you are finished, or select [Advanced...]
to set advanced PostScript/PDF options and continue to
Step 4.
3. Set PostScript/PDF advanced options: This enables you to
define various settings to optimize the functionality of the
PostScript/PDF decomposer.
NOTE: If you do not have a valid PostScript license, the
system will not display PostScript IQ options.
a. On the Virtual Memory tab, enter the initial virtual memory.
This setting defines the amount of memory made available
to the PostScript decomposer for processing jobs. Up to
four different PostScript/PDF decomposers can use this
virtual memory value.
NOTE: If you do not have a valid PostScript license, the
system will not display any PostScript decomposers.
b. Select the System tab to modify system cache settings.
The PostScript/PDF decomposer’s use of cache space
allows it to avoid re-drawing specific components of a
logical page, instead storing them in cache for improved
processing performance. Cache is allocated out of virtual
memory.
–
MaxFontCache: Memory for holding fonts in cache.
–
MaxFormCache: Memory for holding forms in cache.
–
MaxPatternCache: Memory for holding patterns in
cache.
–
MaxScreenCache: Memory for holding halftones in
cache.
–
MaxUPathCache: Memory for holding user paths that
define shapes, trajectories, or regions in cache.
c. Select the User tab to set the amount of cache dedicated
to any single component within cache. Increasing a
