Queue Management
Queue management involves creating and enabling queues to
hold jobs prior to being printed and to help manage the flow of jobs
through the printing system. The Queue Manager can also be
used to change the properties of a queue or to change the job
accept and release status of a queue.
When you select the Override option for any queue property, that
selection will apply to any jobs submitted to that queue and will
take precedence over any property selections made in the Job
Manager or programmed into the job. See Understanding the
Override Option for additional information.
Default Queues
Three predefined queues are created automatically on new
DocuSP installations or systems that reload Solaris.
NOTE: Predefined queues are not created during DocuSP
upgrade installations.
This installation feature enables you to use Print, Save and Hold
queue capabilities without having to manually create each of these
queues after installation.
The following queues are created automatically:
•
HostName_PRINT: The print queue is created with the
standard set of default settings.
•
HostName_SAVE:
–
Color printers: The save queue is created with typical color
attribute settings. For example, Fast Reprint Format, Save
DRIs, and Gather images are enabled.
–
Monochrome printers: The save queue is created with
typical monochrome image quality attribute settings.
•
HostName_HOLD: The hold queue is created with the
standard set of default settings. The queue is set to Do Not
Release Jobs. This setting prevents the queue from
automatically releasing jobs to print. Jobs can only print once
they are manually set to release or if the queue status is
changed.
These queues can be treated like any other queue that is created:
properties can be changed and the queue can be copied or
deleted at any time.
