8 Hygienic reprocessing
8.8.2 Autoclaving parts
As an alternative to disinfection in the washer and disinfector,
the parts can also be disinfected by means of steam sterilization.
Please note that sterility is not guaranteed with this procedure.
Requirement
•
The parts have been prepared for mechanical reprocessing
(see "8.3 Preparing hygienic reprocessing", page 175)
.
•
The parts are cleaned.
1. The parts approved for steam sterilization can be found in
the cleaning and disinfection plan
.
2. Steam sterilize parts at 134 °C with a hold time of 5 min using
a device compliant with EN 285.
When doing so, note: The sterilizer manufacturer's instructions
must be observed and followed.
Result
The parts are machine disinfected.
8.8.3 Reprocessing the protective sleeve
mechanically
1. Open the protective sleeve completely.
2. Wash the protective sleeve in the domestic or industrial
washing machine at 60 °C as per EN 16616 adding the
cleaning agent specified in the cleaning and disinfection plan
(see "8.11 Cleaning and disinfection plan", page 196)
.
When doing so, note: Compliance with the manufacturer's
specifications must be assured.
3. Allow the protective sleeve to dry completely.
Result
The protective sleeve has been disinfected.
