Resolution Editor
As explained in an earlier tutorial on operating the Scaler from the Menu
Select knob, changing resolution settings is an excellent way to destroy the
Scaler’s usefulness unless you are totally sure you understand the theory
behind the entries and are comfortable dealing with the resolution matrix.
Whereas the process was cumbersome using the Menu Select knob and
Rotary Encoder, it’s very simple to make changes using the Windows based
utility. This is both a blessing and a curse so please make certain you know
what you’re doing before making any changes to the stored information.
From the Utility’s Control panel select Tools->Advanced->Resolution Create
and Edit; the edit tool will then start:
There are 3 ways to create a resolution using this tool. The easiest, shown on
the start screen, allows you to create a new resolution using the minimum
information of Horizontal and Vertical size and the desired refresh rate. It’s
also possible to constrain the Vertical size of the resolution by selecting a
custom, 4:3 or 16/9 aspect ratio and then left clicking your mouse on the
