Startup problems
If an error occurs during server startup, check the following:
❖
Is the power cable connected properly to an appropriately grounded AC power
outlet?
❖
Is the AC switch set to On?
❖
After pressing the power button, did the power on indicator turn green?
❖
Are all cables connected properly and securely?
❖
Are the PCI and ISA expansion cards installed properly?
❖
Are all switch settings, including jumper settings, for the expansion cards and
peripheral devices set properly? Refer to the user guides for the expansion
card(s) and peripheral devices for further details.
❖
Are the hard disk drives connected properly?
❖
Are the format and settings for any added hard disk drives correct?
❖
Are the device drivers installed properly?
❖
Are the environmental conditions appropriate for the server (ambient temperature,
relative humidity)?
❖
Is the operating system loaded properly and in normal operation?
❖
For rack mounted models: Is the rack’s KVM switchbox set to select the server?
Application software problems
If you have any problems with application software, check the following:
❖
Is the server hardware appropriate for the software? Refer to the software operating
manual.
❖
Is the software a certified copy? Illegally copied software may not operate. Refer to
the software operating manual.
❖
Was the software loaded from the diskette or the CD? Does the program operate
properly on other systems?
❖
If the software runs from the hard disk drive, check that the software is properly
installed. Are all the required procedures implemented and all the necessary files
installed?
❖
Is the software correctly set up?
❖
Is the software being used correctly?
