Cause 1: Not enough DIMMs are installed
Before troubleshooting, execute the shutdown command through the operating
system to power off the NetBackup 5220 and peripherals. Disconnect the
NetBackup 5220 from power sources and all peripheral devices before
removing hardware from the rack.
1.
Remove the NetBackup 5220 from the rack cabinet and place it on a
level, ESD preventive surface.
2.
Remove the chassis cover.
3.
Remove the PCI Riser Assembly.
4.
Remove the air duct to access the DIMM sockets.
5.
If a RAID Controller Card is installed in the PCI Riser Assembly,
there must be 12 DIMMs, six in each of the two DIMM sections.
6.
If a RAID Controller Card is not installed in the PCI Riser Assembly,
there must be six DIMMs installed.
Note: It does not matter into which sockets you place the DIMMs, they are
interchangeable.
7.
If not enough DIMMs are installed add as many as needed.
8.
Verify that you have the correct number of DIMMs installed.
9.
Replace the air duct, making sure it fits securely.
10.
Replace the PCI Riser Assembly, making sure the three hooks on the
top of the assembly fit securely into the three slots in the top rear
panel of the device.
11.
Replace the chassis cover, sliding it in from the rear of the device,
towards the front of the device.
12.
Replace the screw on the top of the chassis.
13.
Replace the device into the rack and secure it properly.
14.
Re-attach peripherals and power cables.
15.
Power on the NetBackup 5220.
16.
Detect the memory capacity in BIOS.
If the detected capacity value is equal to the actual memory capacity,
the fault is removed.
