NetBackup 5220 hardware removal and replacement
Filling empty bays
are considered a “module.” There is no need to remove the disk from a carrier, they
are a single unit and are replaced as such.
1.
Press the green latch at the front of the hard drive module to release
it.
2.
Pull out on the black lever and slide the module out from the device .
3.
With the black lever held in the fully open position, slide a new disk
module into the NetBackup 5220 and push it in until you hear it click
into place.
4.
Close the green latch to lock the module into place .
Removing a Hot-swap SAS Hard Disk Drive
To remove a hot-swap SAS hard disk drive from the NetBackup 5220:
1. Press the green latch at the front of the hard drive carrier.
2. Pull on the black lever to slide the carrier out from the server system.
3. Remove the four screws that attach the hard drive to the drive carrier. Lift
the drive from the carrier and store the drive in an anti-static bag.
4. Install a replacement drive, as needed.
5. If you are not installing a drive, place the plastic retention device into the
drive carrier and secure the device by inserting the four screws you
removed from the hard drive into the screw locations on the carrier.
Note:
To maintain proper cooling of the chassis and components, all hard drive
carries must be installed in the device and populated with either a drive or a
drive blank.
6. With the black lever held in the fully open position, slide the
drive carrier into the and push all the way until it clicks.
7. Close the lever to lock the drive assembly into place.
Filling empty bays
Proper air flow through the NetBackup 5220 chassis is very important. You must
install a filler panel, drive blank, or empty drive carrier into each empty drive bay on
the front of the device.
1.
Remove the front bezel if it is installed.
2.
If you do not have either a tape drive or 2.5-inch fixed hard drives installed in
the flex bay, install the empty drive tray into the flex bay.
