Shutting Down the Printer
You ȱ only ȱ need ȱ to ȱ shut ȱ down ȱ the ȱ Stratasys ȱ printer ȱ if ȱ it ȱ will ȱ not ȱ be ȱ used ȱ for ȱ a ȱ
week ȱ or ȱ more. ȱ Otherwise, ȱ the ȱ printer ȱ can ȱ remain ȱ on, ȱ in ȱ Idle ȱ mode. ȱ
To ȱ properly ȱ shut ȱ down, ȱ the ȱ printer ȱ needs ȱ to ȱ perform ȱ several ȱ processes. ȱ
These ȱ are ȱ controlled ȱ by ȱ the ȱ Shutdown ȱ wizard. ȱ Do ȱ not ȱ attempt ȱ to ȱ shut ȱ
down ȱ the ȱ printer ȱ by ȱ simply ȱ closing ȱ the ȱ computer ȱ interface ȱ (the ȱ printer Ȭ
control ȱ application), ȱ and ȱ never ȱ disconnect ȱ power ȱ to ȱ the ȱ printer ȱ before ȱ
completing ȱ this ȱ wizard.
Depending ȱ on ȱ the ȱ length ȱ of ȱ time ȱ the ȱ printer ȱ will ȱ not ȱ be ȱ used, ȱ you ȱ can ȱ
choose ȱ between ȱ a ȱ short ȱ shutdown ȱ procedure, ȱ and ȱ a ȱ more ȱ thorough ȱ
procedure.

Up ȱ to ȱ 30 ȱ days: ȱ The ȱ wizard ȱ empties ȱ the ȱ print ȱ block ȱ of ȱ Model ȱ and ȱ
Support ȱ material, ȱ to ȱ prevent ȱ leaks. ȱ This ȱ takes ȱ about ȱ 10 ȱ minutes.

More ȱ than ȱ 30 ȱ days: ȱ The ȱ wizard ȱ empties ȱ the ȱ print ȱ block, ȱ then ȱ flushes ȱ
the ȱ system ȱ with ȱ cleaning ȱ fluid. ȱ This ȱ takes ȱ up ȱ to ȱ 75 ȱ minutes, ȱ and ȱ you ȱ
must ȱ be ȱ present ȱ to ȱ load ȱ cleaning Ȭ fluid ȱ cartridges ȱ when ȱ instructed. ȱ
To run the Shutdown wizard:
1. Start ȱ the ȱ Shutdown ȱ wizard ȱ from ȱ the ȱ Options ȱ menu.

2. Click ȱ Next .
The Shutdown process flushes printing materials from printer components.
To avoid flushing out valuable material, make sure to print models at least
once a week. Many printer operators use this opportunity to print customer
samples or test models.
CAUTION: Not using the printer for an extended period without first
running the wizard can cause serious damage to print heads and other
expensive printer parts.
