REFERENCE STRUCTURES OF DIFFERENT TYPES OF CABLES
4-wire round cable
Features of structure
1. Distances to heterogeneities with maximum response levels are the same. In a cable that has
no defects, when the correct value of the Shortening Factor is set, they correspond to the length
of the cable.
2. Response levels are the same across all tested wire combinations.
6-wire flat cable
Features of structure
1. Distances to heterogeneities with high response levels are the same. In the cable without
defects, when the correct value of the Shortening Factor is set, they correspond to the length of
the cable.
2. Response levels are different. Maximum levels - on the pairs of wires located nearby: 2-3; 3-4;
4-5; 5-6 (capacitive coupling in these pairs is maximum). Levels decrease in combinations as the
distance between the wires increases (capacitive coupling in these pairs weakens). The minimum
level is on the pair of wires 2-7.
