Miscellaneous problems
If the following problems or fault symptoms occur, troubleshoot according to the recommended action given in the
following tables.
Time and date reset
CD/DVD cannot be read
CD/DVD will not eject
Symptom Possible Problem Recommended Action
Time and date are reset
on monitor and cannot
be permanently updated.
Error message of the
following type displayed:
CMOS CHECKSUM
FAILURE, CMOS
BATTERY STATE LOW,
CMOS SYSTEM
OPTIONS NOT SET or
CMOS TIME AND DATE
NOT SET. Internal battery or
Motherboard Replace internal battery on Motherboard (see “CMOS battery
replacement” on page 91 ).
Replace faulty Motherboard (see “Chassis replacement (containing
motherboard and CPUs)” on page 92 ).
Symptom Possible Problem Recommended Action
CD/DVD drive not
recognised. IDE cable or power cable
disconnected/ loose/faulty.
Drive fault.
Check CD/DVD drive cable and connectors.
Replace faulty CD/DVD drive (see “DVD/CD drive replacement” on
page 88 ).
CD/DVD media not
recognised Lens is dirty.
Drive fault.
Clean CD/DVD drive lens.
Replace faulty CD/DVD drive (see “DVD/CD drive replacement” on
page 88 ).

recognised.
CD/DVD is recognised
but cannot eject
Power cable disconnected/
loose/faulty. Check CD/DVD drive cable and connectors.
Drive fault. Replace faulty CD/DVD drive (see “DVD/CD drive replacement” on
page 88 ).
