Cleaning the front bezel filter
The removable front panel bezel contains a filter for
cooling air to be drawn into the unit.
How often the filter must be cleaned depends on the
environment in which the server operates. As the filter
collects dust, the air in-take of the unit will become
restricted, causing the server’s internal fans to spin faster
and work harder to maintain the internal temperature
within normal operating parameters.
If the filter becomes severely blocked, this may result in
more fan noise or in overheating, causing an automatic
shutdown of the server.
Follow the procedure below to remove and clean the front
bezel air filter:
1
If fitted, remove the front bezel to access the filter (see
2
Use a vacuum cleaner to remove the dust from the
exposed parts of the foam filter at the front and rear of
the bezel.
3
Re-fit the bezel to the front of the server by pushing the
bezel into place. The release buttons will snap into
place when positioned correctly.
It is recommended that the bezel is fitted to the unit
during normal operation in order to protect the HDDs
and other internal circuitry from dust and dirt. This
will prolong the life of your equipment and protect the
unit from overheating.
