Communication problems
Communications to client workstations is accomplished
via the network interface card (NIC) connector in slot 3.
The NIC provides an Ethernet (RJ-45) 1000BaseT
connection that is connected to clients via an Ethernet
Gigabit Switch.
No communications between server and client
Slow communications between server and client
Symptom

No communications

client. Both LEDs on the
NIC ethernet connector
are off.
NIC Card Fault.
Motherboard does not
recognise PCI bus or NIC
Card.
Check communication using the ‘ping’ command (see
). Perform a ‘ping’ to the local host (127.0.0.0)
and then attempt to ‘ping’ connected clients on the network.
Confirm the PCI bus is working by using the PC-Check utility (see
).
Replace faulty NIC Card (see
