Battery installation
1
Insert the new battery, taking care to observer the
correct polarity with the + symbol positioned facing
the clip and PCI card connector.
2
Replace the rear lid (see
) and power on the server (see
Checks after replacement
After replacement, confirm that the CMOS BIOS settings
have not been lost, using the BIOS setup utility (see
“Motherboard BIOS manager” on page 50
). If the settings
are not required restore them to their correct values.
Disposal
• Batteries may explode if mistreated. Do not attempt
to re-charge, disassemble or dispose of in a fire.
• Batteries may explode if short-circuited. When
disposing of a battery, wrap all metal surfaces in
insulating tape.
Always dispose of Lithium batteries responsibly. Wrap the
battery in insulating tape to completely cover the metal
surfaces and dispose of it according to local ordinance.
Chassis replacement (containing
motherboard and CPUs)
For situations where the server chassis must be returned
for repair, it is possible to transfer parts from the faulty
chassis to a good chassis to minimise downtime and allow
continued use.
The RAID board cable connections, and Media drive
positions MUST be exactly as they were in the original
chassis or media data will be lost!
1
Power off the unit (see
), disconnect and remove the faulty chassis
from the rack and place alongside the chassis
2
If fitted, remove the front bezel (see
).
3
Remove the rear lid (see
4
5
Transfer the following parts across to the new chassis:
• Both OS hard drives (see
)
• Both system cooling fans (see
)
• RAID controller card (see
)
• NIC card (see
“NIC card replacement” on page 90
• All 16 Media RAID disks (see
). When the complete
Media RAID is transferred to a different chassis, it is
essential that the original order of the disk drives is
maintained. Failure to achieve this may result in loss
of data.
• All four memory modules (see
)
)
6
When complete, check that the S-ATA connections
have been correctly replaced and that the Media RAID
HDDs have been placed in their correct positions. Loss
of media will result if the server is powered on with
incorrect connections or positions.
