Image processing parameters
Parameter
Possible values
Default
Description
Minimum reflector
contrast
0 ... 255
40
During image processing, the contrast between the
light and dark areas must have at least this value.
The contrast of a reflector is normally between 40
and 100. The contrast of a retroreflective reflector
with a flash is greater than that of a passive reflector.
This parameter increases the reliability of detection.
When the value is suitably high, errors such as de‐
tecting a similar pattern with less contrast (e.g.
floor tiles) can be avoided.
Edge determina‐
tion threshold
• Arithmetic average
• Suppress. dark disturb‐
ance
• Suppress. light disturb‐
ance
Arithmetic average
This parameter can be used to specify the light-dark
limit.
Note
Settings other than the factory setting are not rec‐
ommended for this version.
Probability of de‐
tection
0 ... 100%
70%
The probability calculated by the correlation func‐
tion for detection of the reflector is compared with
this factor. The reflector will be deemed detected
only when the calculated probability is greater than
or equal to this value.
Note
To avoid incorrect detection, the value should at
least be set to the factory setting
(≥ 70%).
Edge smoothing fil‐
ter
• Off
• Low
• Medium
• High
Medium
Use this parameter to define the extent to which the
four inner edges of the main reflector are smoothed
during image processing. These edges are used for
determining the rotation angle.
Smoothing can reduce the effects of noise and flick‐
ering in the image, thus improving the stability of
the measured value.
Exposure control
An integrated controller readjusts the exposure time and brightness for each cycle depending on
the reflector found. This ensures that an optimal image can be acquired in the conditions. The
manually set parameters "Exposure time" and "Brightness" (see Table 8-13 Image acquisition
parameters (Page 76)) are used as start values but are not subsequently changed.
Note
Crane applications without this controller are pointless, as different exposure times are required
depending on the hoisting height and the reflector would not otherwise be reliably detected.
Only deactivate this controller in exceptional cases.
