– Disconnect connector -2- and remove bolt -1-.
– Pull out ignition coils with output stages

– Remove the spark plugs with spanner - 3122 B- .
– Check compression pressure with compression tester -
V.A.G 1763- (see ⇒ operating instructions for details of how
to use tester).
– Have a 2nd mechanic press down the accelerator pedal com‐
pletely and simultaneously operate the starter until the pres‐
sure no longer increases on the tester display.
– Repeat procedure on each cylinder.

Assembling
Carry out installation in the reverse sequence, noting the follow‐
ing:
– Install spark plugs.
– Install ignition coils with output stages

– Because connectors were unplugged and the engine started,
entries are stored in the event memory of the engine control
