Synergy Q/MD Engineering Manual (v9.1 MD)
Installing Remote Aux Panels
Remote Aux panels are self-contained units that have their own power supply. Each panel controls the
switcher Aux Buses via a single control cable.
Even though an unlimited number of Aux panels can be connected to the Synergy Q/MD control
panel, a practical limit of
16
Aux panels should be observed. This limit minimizes delay, and allows
eight panels to be daisy-chained on each of the two
AUX
connectors.
The Remote Aux Panels require one rack unit of space for installation and their own power as the
following figure illustrates.
Aux Panel Rear Layout and Connection.
Connector layout is identical for all remote Aux panels.
1. Power Connector
One DC connector is provided for +5 VDC panel power.
2. GPI Connector
One 9-pin “D” GPI connector is provided for special GPI triggers that allow a camera
operator to manually override the Aux panel selection. Refer to the section “
” on page 4-4 for connection details. Refer to the section “
” on page 11-2 for setup details.
3. Main Connector
One 6-pin RJ-12 Telco connector is provided for connecting to the Aux connectors on
the rear of the Control Panel. Refer to the section “
page 4-4 for connection details. Refer to Appendix A
for pinouts.
Note
The
Synergy 1
uses a DB9 to RJ-12
Aux Adapter
to connect a
Remote Aux Panel to the
Remote 5
port on the back of the control
panel. As this provides only one
AUX
port, a practical limit of
8
Remote Aux Panels should be observed.
