4. Connect the power supply to your up/down converter.
5. Configure your up/down converter so that it converts the appropriate input formats and
provides the appropriate output video format as indicated on your Conversion Loop
Worksheet. Consult the documentation for your specific up/down converter for
assistance.
This completes the procedure to cable a converter loop between your Synergy Q/MD switcher and an
up/down converter. Repeat this procedure for each loop on your Conversion Loop Worksheet.
Configuring Your Switcher
Once you have completed cabling your conversion loops, you need to configure the Synergy Q/MD
switcher to recognize them.
Use the following procedure to configure your Synergy Q/MD switcher to recognize a converter loop:
1. Navigate to the External Device Assign Menu as follows:
• Press HOME B MORE B Setup B Installation B Aux Bus B Ext Device

2. Define a conversion loop as follows:
• Use the Aux Bus knob to select the Aux Bus that is cabled to your up/down
converter. This is the outbound portion of the conversion loop.
• Use the BNC knob to select the input BNC that is cabled to your up/down
converter. This is the inbound portion of the conversion loop.
• Use the Tally when knob to select how the Aux Bus is tallied. While there are
multiple options, select SmartConversion the XPT On Air setting.
3. Repeat Step 2 for each conversion loop you have cabled.
This completes the procedure to configure your Synergy Q/MD switcher to recognize a converter
loop.
