Additional requirements for this configuration are as follows:
■
At least one FC Port of SANbox 6142 should be connected to FC SAN
■
iSCSI/ GE (GE identifies Gigabit Ethernet ports on the router) Port IP addresses
of remote router and iSCSI/GE port IP addresses of local routers must be
accessible by each other.
■
Remote SANbox 6142 management port IP address and local SANbox 6142
management port IP address must be accessible by each other.
When connecting SANs over long distances, it is important to determine the
round-trip latencies between two router connections. Round trip latencies can be
discovered using “Ping” command in CLI. Please
see appendix A.18 .
Using this round trip latency number, refer to the section on “Performance tuning”
(see section 3.5) to determine the window scaling factor for GE (iSCSI) port. Default
window scaling is set to 1, (64K) TCP window size.
To map remote FC devices to local SAN, follow these steps:
1. If the remote router is not already associated with a local router, use either
SANsurfer “Add Remote Router” wizard (see section 7.6.6) or the CLI
command “remotepeer add” (see appendix A.22) to associate the two routers
with each other.
2. Use SANsurfer “Map Remote Initiator/Target” wizard (see section 7.6.8) or the
CLI “remotemap add” command (see appendix A.21) to create the initiator to
target mapping.
