Maintenance for Select Printheads
1.
On the top of the carriage there are 4 ink purge valves (5 with the white ink option). If
you have performed a printhead maintenance and find that one or more printheads require
additional maintenance, turn off the valves of all the other colors.
2.
Perform all of the steps for printhead maintenance again, but only on the affected print-
heads.
Note:
Isolating an individual color does not perform a stronger purge, but it does conserve ink.
[168] Purge Valves with Yellow Turned Off
3.
Remember to open any valves that were closed for this procedure.
Note:
If a purge valve is left closed, there is no vacuum pressure to hold the ink and it will drip
out of the printhead. Drops of ink will appear on the media if you print with purge valves
closed.
4.
If problems still persist, perform the swab procedure on the affected printhead (see the
next section).
