Chapter 8: LPC84x System configuration (SYSCON)

8.6.48 Device ID register

The device ID register is a read-only register and contains the part ID for each part. This
register is also read by the ISP/IAP commands (see

).

8.7 Functional description

8.7.1 Reset

Reset has the following sources: the RESET pin, Watchdog Reset, Power-On Reset
(POR), and Brown Out Detect (BOD). In addition, there is an ARM software reset.

The RESET pin is a Schmitt trigger input pin. Assertion of chip Reset by any source, once
the operating voltage attains a usable level, starts the FRO causing reset to remain
asserted until the external Reset is de-asserted, the oscillator is running, and the flash
controller has completed its initialization.

When the internal Reset is removed, the processor begins executing at address 0, which
is initially the Reset vector mapped from the boot block. At that point, all of the processor
and peripheral registers have been initialized to predetermined values.

8.7.2 Brown-out detection

The brown-out detection circuit includes up to three levels for monitoring the voltage on
the V

DD

pin. If this voltage falls below one of the selected levels, the BOD asserts an

interrupt signal to the NVIC or issues a reset, depending on the value of the BODRSTENA
bit in the BOD control register (
