Depending on the programming setup, the analog
telephone provides either a Stuttered Dial Tone or a
Message Waiting Lamp to indicate messages pending.

For analog telephones connected to an ASM, the
message waiting indicator remains on until the user
invokes

. If the analog telephone

has the Message Reply Enhancement feature set to Yes,
the message waiting indicator is turned off
automatically after the reply call is answered no matter
from where the call is answered.
