VIRTUAL INPUTS
Virtual Input
buttons sit innocuously on TriCaster’s
Switcher
rows just like other video inputs,
but in fact they possess very powerful features.
Virtual Inputs
can be somewhat likened to the
M/E (Mix/Effect) rows of a traditional video switcher. They permit a composition to be prepared
from multiple sources (including an upstream keyer channel).
4.11.1
COMPOSING INPUTS A AND B
Let’s begin our examination by re-constituting our simple keyer setup above, but this time doing
so using a
Virtual Input
.
1.
Change the Switcher’s
Program
row selection to
V1
.
2.
Click the tab labeled
V1
below the
Switcher
(to reveal the panel for
Virtual Input 1
).
3.
Notice that the
Sources
portion of the
Virtual Input
panel is home to two
source
selector
buttons rows labeled
Input A
and Input
B
.
4.
At the end of the previous section, we left the
DDR
with
LiveMatte
enabled. Click
DDR
in the
Input A
row, designating it as the foreground stream for this
Virtual Input
.
Figure 63
5.
Click
Stills
in the
Input B
row (Figure 63), designating that source as the background.
At this point, the display on
Program Output
should be identical to the simple ‘weather map’
setup we created in the previous section (Figure 61); remember that LiveMatte is
already
enabled
for the greenscreen shot from our previous exercise.
