A drop-down
Connection
Type
menu at the top allows selection between the following input
options:
1.
Analog
Mic
– low impedance microphones and other common professional audio
sources
Mic + Phantom
(power) – microphones (typically condenser mics) requiring
supplementary DC power
Line
– consumer audio sources such as CD players, VCRs, etc.
2.
Digital
AES/EBU
– a professional digital audio protocol connected using BNC
connectors
SDI Embedded
– digital audio embedded with digital video transmitted via a
Serial Digital Interface (SDI) connection
Because of its support for connecting microphones,
Input 1
has several other special features,
discussed next.
TALK
The
Talk
switch (also known as “Talk Over”) is shown when the
Connection Type
for
Input 1
is
Mic
(or
Mic + Phantom
).
It is often important to be able to reduce all other audio input levels so an announcement made
using a microphone connected to
Input 1
can be clearly understood by the audience.
Enabling
Talk
(Figure 185) reduces the output level of all
other
audio sources by 20dB.
