Inspection Procedure 5
Headlamp angle does not change when the headlamp
leveling switch is operated. Probable cause
The cause is probably a malfunction of the headlamp leveling switch circuit system
or a malfunction of the headlamp leveling unit circuit system.
If there is a blown fuse, there may also be a short-circuit in a harness.

Headlamps illuminate when the lighting
switch is moved to the HEAD position.

Headlamp circuit check and repair
OK
Disconnect the headlamp leveling
switch connector B-48 and measure at
the harness side.
D Ignition switch: ON
D Lighting switch: HEAD
(1) Voltage between terminal (6) - earth
OK:
System voltage
(2) Continuity between terminal (3) -
earth
OK:
Continuity
(1) NG
Check the following connectors:
B-75, B-81, B-48
NG
Repair
OK
Check trouble symptoms.
NG
Check the harness between the head-
lamp relay and the headlamp leveling
switch. Repair, if necessary.
(2) NG
Check the following connectors:
B-48, B-61X
NG
Repair
OK
Check trouble symptoms.
NG
Check the harness between the head-
lamp leveling switch and body earth.
Repair, if necessary.
OK
Disconnect the headlamp leveling unit
connectors A-25(LH), A-41(RH) and
measure at the harness side. Both the
left and right connectors of the headlamp
leveling unit should be checked.
(1) Voltage between terminal (3) - earth
OK:
System voltage
(2) Continuity between terminal (1) -
earth
OK:
Continuity
(1) NG
Check the following connector:
B-75
NG
Repair
OK
Check trouble symptoms.
NG
Check the harness between the head-
lamp relay and the headlamp leveling
unit. Repair, if necessary.
(2) NG
Repair
OK
Disconnect the headlamp leveling unit
(LH), headlamp leveling unit (RH) and
headlamp leveling switch connectors
A-25, A-41, B-48 and measure at the
harness side.
D Continuity between terminal No. 2
of the headlamp leveling unit (both)
and terminal No. 4 of the headlamp
leveling switch.
OK:
Continuity
NG
Check the following connectors:
A-70, A-39, B-45
NG
Repair
OK
Check trouble symptoms.
NG
Check the harness between the head-
lamp leveling switch and the headlamp
leveling unit (both).
Repair, if necessary.
OK
Replace the headlamp leveling unit.
