AB indicates that the CV calculation has been aborted, or in other words, the IMC
could not be properly formed and thus a failed joint. This can occur for the
following reasons:
1. Insufficient solder
2. Solder tip is not in contact with the pad and/or lead
3. Incorrect soldering cartridge for the application.
TE – CV Thermal Efficiency Failure
TE indicates that the CV calculation could not be performed due to an issue with
thermal efficiency. In other words, the tip chosen for the job cannot provide
enough of a thermal load to provide a sufficient IMC.
TO – CV Timeout Failure
TO indicates that the iron has remained on the joint for at the programmed CV
timeout setting and will result in an abort.
ER – Unexpected Error
ER indicates a catastrophic error with the CV Power Supply.
The possibility of seeing this error is a very rare occurrence. However, in the
event this error is seen, contact the Metcal Technical Services department
(information found in the back of this manual.)
