Configuring an Email Server On the Meter

While this process can be completed from the meter interface as described in
this section, it is most easily be accomplished in G4 LD Utility software.
Before you begin:

We recommend that you use 2-Step Verification when using Google®
G-mail™. If you use G-mail, complete section

If your meter is configured with a static IP address, you will need to
enter the fixed network addresses you previously defined during this
process. For help with this, see
13.2.1 Setting a Static IP Address

If you’re planning to use network security, create an email account on
an email server that supports HTTPS and encryption protocol. For
more information, see your email provider’s documentation.
Step 1
Navigate to

Press the top-right softkey (

page displays.

Enter a
Hostname
for your mail server, and a
Username
and
Password
for your
mail account as shown in

Select the
Security
level for the account. Check your email
provider’s documentation if you need help with this.
TLS Trusted CA (preferred)
The 831C matches responding server with a provided certificate to verify
that the responding server is known. If the responding server can’t be
verified, the email will not send. Most email providers (such as Gmail) use
this type of security.
TLS On
Certain configurations use their own method for validating that an email
server is the correct server—such as the US military. Use this setting when
instructed by your IT department.
TLS Off
This is option uses only a login name and password to access an email
server. This method is not secure, and we don’t recommend it.
Step 5

Send a Test Email

If you don’t receive a notification within a few minutes of initiating a test,
check to see if your meter is connected to the Internet. Also, make sure a
proxy is not filtering your email.
