9.2 Updating the Meter Time
On your 831C, go to
Tools
3
System Properties
, press the top-right
softkey (
//*
)until the
Time
page displays.
There are several ways that you can update the time on the meter: by using
GPS, NTP servers, PC clock, or by manually setting the time. This page is
designed to be manually updated. However, when your time zone is set
accurately, the time automatically updates for Daylight Savings time.

Set your time zone first then select
Save

If you want to manually set time and override
any syncing, adjust this and select
Set Time
. If
you have set up NTP time, it is not necessary to
set this. For details on NTP, see

Stop the measurement before setting time,
otherwise the time waits to update until the next

to save your changes.

9.3 Using NTP to Sync the Meter Clock
The 831C communicates with NTP servers to sync the internal clock with the
most accurate time. This requires a valid Internet connection through
Ethernet, wireless modem, or WiFi.
Before you begin:

Set the correct Time Zone on your meter (
Menu
System Properties
Time
).
Step 1
On the meter, go to
System Properties.
Step 2
Press the top-right softkey (

) until the
NTP tab
displays.
Step 3
Enter the
Primary
and
Secondary
NTP Time Servers as shown in
.
