The labels for sound metrics on the 831C are designated by international
standards. For many displayed values, the frequency and time weighting are
indicated in the name of the metric. For example, L
AS
is the A-weighted sound
pressure level measured using the Slow detector. Sound pressure level is
often referred to as SPL.
TAKE NOTE
Depending on which features and options you’ve enabled, your 831C Live
tabs may differ from those shown in this section.
4.1.1 About the SLM Page (Live Tab Page 1)

Details of the Live Tab, Page 1
1.
This value is the most recently graphed 1 second
value. The frequency weighting for this value, and
possibly the detector, corresponds to the metric you
select from the Live tab pop-up menu.
2.
This value is the metric you choose in the “Any Level”
menu on this tab. The default value is L
AS
. With this
metric selected, press
5
and select a new metric to
display.
3.
This is
the current value from the 1second peak detector.
The frequency weighting (Z in this case) corresponds to your
Peak selection in the “Any Level” menu on this tab.
4.
This time stamp shows the duration of the current
measurement. The time resets when with an auto-store
or a measurement reset.
5.
The graph presents the last 120 seconds of the
