Format and Restore Defaults
This function formats the internal data storage in the 831C memory. The
meter is then restored to factory settings. Only Meter Preferences and System
Properties are preserved.
CAUTION
All data saved on the meter will be lost. This includes calibrations and calibra
-
tion history. For AudCal users, using Format and Restore also clears the AudCal
database.
TAKE NOTE
If a measurement is running, stopped, or paused,
a Reset is required.
12.1 Troubleshooting a Bad Flash Block Error
The Flash memory device used by the 831C contains a controller that
performs dynamic bad block mapping. In the event that a flash block fails
after it’s written, you may see a bad flash block error message.
If this occurs, download and save your data from the 831C to a USB drive or
PC, and then select
Check File System
for either the internal or USB storage
as shown in
. This feature forces the controller to re-map all bad
blocks.
TAKE NOTE
Data in a bad flash block is usually unrecoverable. Check these files for errors
if you receive this error message.
