SoundAdvisor Model 831C
Creating a Custom Setup File On the Meter
6-6
1.
SPL
Trigger Levels: When the measured SPL (Slow, Fast, or
Impulse) is greater than the trigger level you set here, the
exceedance begins. The measured SPL is defined by the current
weighting and detector.
2.
Peak
Trigger Level: Set 3 peak levels independent of the
SPL triggers. Because the peak is associated with
Fast
detec
-
tion time, these triggers can identify impulsive noises (e.g., gun
shots), which would not normally be measured.

Setup Manager: Day/Night Setting Tab
Although the ISO 1996-2:2007 standard specifies which default
values should be used to calculate LDEN, in practice, the time
values defining the day, evening, and night periods may be
changed.
This is permitted by Directive 2002/49/EC of the European
Parliament and of the Council of 25 June, 2002 relating to the
assessment and management of environmental noise. Because of
these recommendations and the versatility of the standard on this
point, it’s important to verify these values using the formulas for
L
DN
and
L
DEN
prior to making the measurement.
L
DN
is the default day/night level,
L
DEN
is the default day-evening-
night level. The formulas for each are shown in
Use the formulas, and enter the resulting
values on this page.
