4.1.2 About the Big Digit Sound Page (Live Tab Page 2)
The big digit display is best for observing the instantaneous sound level and
for watching when the measured sound exceeds a defined trigger level.

The current value on the Big Digit display
corresponds to the “Any Level” value you select. To
change this metric, highlight it, press

, and select
a new option.

The peak exceedance value displays in gray if it is
under range.
3.
Current date and time on the meter displays near
the bottom.
4.
This is the Exceedance Trigger level you selected
in the measurement setup.

TAKE NOTE
This feature requires the 831C-OB3 firmware option.
Four pages on the Live tab relate to which octave band setting you choose in
the measurement setup. The height of each band in the graph is the
amplitude of sound for that frequency.

Each band is one full octave that increases
from left to right.

Displays the frequency weighting and detector.
3.
Displays the frequency band level.

Use the LEFT and RIGHT(

) navigation
buttons to highlight the desired band and the
numerical values below will reflect the information
at that octave.
5.
The purple band on the far right represents an
average sum of all the bands.
