7. Press the latch away from the socket; then, lift the latch up.
8. Carefully lift the microprocessor from the socket.
Attention:
The pins on the base of the microprocessor bend
easily. Once bent, the pins will not easily fit into another socket.

9. Store the old microprocessor in a static-protective package.
Make a note of the microprocessor type for future reference.
Store the old heat sink and heat-sink clip in a safe place.
