9. Select START at the top of the user interface.
10. Select the print group, select Start and run the production line to make a print.
11. Measure the length of the printed ruler in mm, between the two points illustrated below.
12. The measurement should be 100 mm, if not, do the calculation described below:
Encoder Scale Value ÷ Measured Length Value x 100 = New Encoder Scale Value
13. Select STOP at the top of the user interface.
14. Select the print group and select Stop.
15. Select Home > Setup > Production line setup > Line movement .
16. Enter the new encoder scale value in the Encoder scale (pulses/m) setting.
17. Check the encoder setup by repeating to .

INTERNAL ENCODER SETUP
WARNING Hazardous Chemicals. Risk of eye and skin damage.
Wear protective equipment such as gloves and glasses when near the
printer.
Contact with chemicals can cause skin or eye damage.
Refer to Safety Data Sheet.
If an encoder is not connected to the controller, a simulated encoder signal can be generated by
the controller to set a fixed printing speed.
1. Notes To use internal encoder, ensure the "Print speed mode" of labels that are
sent to the print group is set to "Internal". see Label Settings on page 134 .
2. The print speed is set by the label's "Production speed (m/min)" setting. see
Label Settings on page 134 .
To setup an internal encoder with a fixed printing speed:
1. If the print group is active, stop the print group. Select STOP , select the print group and
select Stop .
2. Select Home > Setup > Production line setup > Line movement .
3. Select a Print group tab, to choose which print group to setup.
4. Select the Encoder input setting and select Internal .
5. The print speed is set by the label's "Production speed (m/min)" setting. see Label Settings
on page 134 .
