Configuration Procedures
Creating a New Array
If you are configuring a new array, the configuration wizard leads you through
the process. If you want to bypass the wizard, use the following procedures to
create your array.
Creating a New Array—Procedure
Creating a new array involves the following general steps:
1. Choose a controller for the array.
2. Group physical drives of the same size into an array.
3. Subdivide the array into one or more logical drives.
The following example illustrates using the Array Configuration Utility to
carry out these steps.
Creating a New Array—Example
For this example, make the following assumptions:
■
Four 1.05-GB drives and two 4.3-GB drives are connected to the
SMART-2DH Array Controller.
■
There will be two arrays. Array A consists of three 1.05-GB drives
with the fourth 1.05-GB drive used as a spare. Array B is the two 4.3-
GB drives.
