ARAMETERS
This chapter discusses background information for other parameters within the
Management Console (MC). These parameters are primarily used during trouble shooting
and the administrator would be instructed by a Customer Support representative on their
usage. The optional parameters are listed in alphabetical order.
Begin Test (IP)
Path
Gateway (Remote) ->Utilities-
>Diagnostics->Test IP
Description
A test that can be performed that ensures IP
communication is working correctly.
Usage
Same as the MS-DOS “Ping” command, it sends
packets back and forth to the unit specified by the
IP Address parameter field (directly below the
Begin Test parameter). After the test is complete
messages describing the results will be presented

Clear Log
Path Gateway
(Remote) ->Utilities->System
Description
Clears the log buffer of events on the Switch
Module and/or the Remote Module.
WARNING:
Clearing the log cannot be undone.
Messages are permanently removed.
Usage
Used during trouble shooting. It clears the log of
any unnecessary log messages when tracking
issues.

Dump All
Path Gateway
(Remote) ->Utilities->System
Description
This parameter will “dump” the entire log file to
the screen to allow a terminal emulation program
(i.e. HyperTerminal) to capture the text.
Usage
Allows the administrator to capture logs and
system information should an anomaly occur.
Dependencies
A VT100 terminal emulation program on a PC
must be running and have the capability of
transferring the data to a text file.

Description
This is a file saved within the flash file system. It
contains all the configuration parameters of the
Management Console (MC). Changes can be
saved without affecting the currently running
software image.
