Advanced IP Parameters – Telnet and FTP
Prior to the administrator having remote access to the Switch Module and Remote Module
the system IP parameters must be configured. The following is a detailed description of
the programming areas that would be considered “essential” to the proper operation of the
Switch Module and Remote Module. The Remote Module Telnet and FTP configuration
screen is shown below:

Telnet
– The Switch Module can be accessed remotely by use of a standard Telnet
session. By default Telnet is enabled.
2.
FTP
– File Transfer Protocol (FTP) is used primarily during the upgrade process. For
security reasons this feature is disabled on default. FTP should remain disabled when
not upgrading a unit or unless otherwise instructed to by a Customer Support
representative.
FTP should always be disabled when not performing a software upgrade or file transfer to
and from the units.
