Jitter
Jitter is the deviation in or displacement of some aspect of
the pulses in a high-frequency digital signal. As the name
suggests, jitter can be thought of as shaky pulses. The
deviation can be in terms of amplitude, phase timing, or the
width of the signal pulse.

KTS
Key Telephone System. A private telephone system requiring
manual selection of outside lines.

LAN
A local area network (LAN) is a computer network covering a
local area, like a home, office or small group of buildings
such as a college.
LCD
Liquid Crystal Display – the graphical display available on
some digital phone types.
LED
Light emitting diode (status indicator).
Log
Holds the call processing information generated by system
activity.
M
MB
Management Browser is used to install and configure the
Switch Module and Remote Module.
MC
Management Console is used to install and configure the
Switch Module and Remote Module.
MIB Management
Information
Base
When SNMP devices send SNMP messages to the
management console, it stores information in this file or
database. The MIB collects and contains information on
managed objects.
N
Nodes
Devices on a network that demand or supply services or
where transmission paths are connected. Node is often used
instead of workstation.

Optimization
The process of improving the application's performance.
P
Packet Loss
The discarding of data packets in a network when a device is
overloaded and cannot accept any incoming data at a given
moment.
Packet Size
The number of bytes contained in a single network packet.
Parity
A binary digit appended to an array of bits to make the sum
of all the bits always odd or always even.
Password
A series of characters that enables someone to access a file,
computer or program.
PBX
Private Branch Exchange (circuit switched telephony
server).
A telephone switch for use inside a corporation. It connects
offices (internal extensions) with each other and provides
access (typically by dialing an access number such as 9) to
the public telephone network. PABX is the preferred term in
Europe.
