This test will measure all phosphorous containing com-
pounds present in the sample, including ortho-Phosphate,
Polyphosphate and organic phosphorous compounds.
1.
Fill a clean100-ml-Erlenmeyer flask with
50 ml homo-
genized sample.
2.
Add one spoon
KP962(Ammonium Persulfate Pow-
der)
to the prepared water sample
3.
Add
15 drops of KS278 (50% SulphuricAcid)
to the
same water sample.
4.
Boil for
20 minutes
, maintaining the sample volume
above 25 ml with deionised water.
5.
Swirl gently severaltimesto mix the contentsand allow
the Erlenmeyerflask to cool to room temperature.
6.
Fill the Erlenmeyer flask with drops of the same size by
holding the bottle vertically and squeezeslowly:
2 dropsKS135 (Phenolphthalein Substitute Indicator)
7.
Add drops of
KS144 (Calcium Hardness Buffer)
, one
drop at a time
with mixing
, until a pale pink colour
just appears.
8.
Fill the sample up to 50ml with deionised water.
