Configuration Wizard - Basic Wizard

The configuration wizard application is a quicker and easier way to configure the               
BLACK BOX 

®

Advanced Console Server. It is recommended that you use this application if 

you are not familiar with the vi editor or if you just want to do a quick installation of the 
BLACK BOX 

®

Advanced Console Server. 

The command 

wiz

 gets you started with some basic configuration. After executing this com-

mand, you can continue the configuration of the BLACK BOX 

®

Advanced Console Server 

using any browser or by editing system files with the vi editor. What follows are the basic 
parameters to get you quickly started. The files that will be eventually modified if you decide 
to save to flash at the end of this application are: 

1.

/etc/hostname

2.

/etc/hosts

3.

/etc/resolv.conf

4.

/etc/network/st_routes

5.

/etc/network/ifcfg_eth0

6.

/etc/portslave/pslave.conf

Step 1:  Enter the command 

wiz

.

At the command prompt type “wiz” in your terminal to bring up the wizard. You will 
receive an initial instruction screen.
