When you install the N4916A for the first time, you need to configure
the USB interface of the Serial BERT.
For this configuration, you may wish to connect a keyboard and a mouse
to the Serial BERT (see
“Connecting Peripherals” on page 399
). This is
not mandatory but convenient – the keys provided by the instrument
can be used as well for entering the required information. You can
remove keyboard and mouse when you are done.
Checking the Serial BERT Software Revision
The Serial BERT software supports the N4916A on from revision 4.8.

Checking the Agilent IO Libraries Revision
New Serial BERT instruments are delivered with Agilent IO Libraries
Suite Revision 14.1 or later installed. However, the N4916A can also be
operated with the older revision M.01.
