Procedure
1.
Make sure that you disengage the PTO shaft, stop the tractor engine and remove the key.
2.
Make sure that the draw bar and the tractor are connected.
3.
Hold the PTO shaft of the tractor and the drive shaft of the machine adjacent to each other at the
shortest distance.
4.
Find the minimum length of operation Lmin and the maximum length of operation Lmax. Try to find
the maximum overlap.
a) Shortest length of operation, that gives a full overlap
b) During usual operation, the overlap of the sliding tubes must be a minimum of 2/3 of the profile
overlap LU
c) For a short time, the drive shaft can be in operation with the length Lmax, the profile overlap is 1/3
LU.
5.
Align the drive shaft halves adjacent to each other in the shortest position of operation and mark
them.
6.
Make the inner and outer tubes shorter by equal quantities to make sure that you keep a sliding travel
of 40 mm (1.6 in) in the shortest position of operation.
7.
Make the inner and outer special-section tubes shorter by the same quantity as the guard tubes.
8.
The cut edges must be smooth with no rough edges and clean the tubes.
9.
Apply grease on the sliding special-section tubes.
10.
Connect the PTO shaft and make sure that the locks engage correctly.
11.
Install the retaining chain so the protective tubes of the drive shaft will not turn.
12.
Examine the angle of the wide angle joint when you drive through a small bend. The angle must be
not larger than the drive shaft manufacturers specified limit.
13.
Read in full the operator instructions from the drive shaft's manufacturer. Know the local related signs
for type approval for drive shaft protection.
