b. If either batch numbering or barcode reading has
been selected and, for any reason, the number of
samples actually tested does not agree with the
number of samples entered at the prompt
“# of
Samples: ”,
“WARNING -Sample Count
Incorrect”
will be displayed.
F. Insert tests
A feature of the 4C3 is the capability to deliberately interrupt a set
of tests, insert a single test, then automatically finish the original test
sequence.
To interrupt a test set for a single, priority test, press INSERT.
The INSERT button will illuminate. As soon as the current test is
finished,
“Insert Sample, Press START to Continue”
will
be displayed. Pipet or measure the sample into a clean, dry sample
tube as recommended in Chapter 1, Section B, place it in the insert
(STAT) test well (see figure 5), and press START. The inserted
sample will be tested, recorded as
“Insert x”,
and replaced in
the insert (STAT) test well; then routine testing will be resumed.
Additional priority tests may be inserted the same way, as necessary.
G. Repeatability tips
1. Gently wipe the mandrel, probe and stir/freeze wire (see figure
8) with a pure water dampened tissue to remove any contam-
inants before each set of tests, after about every 50 tests, and
after each set of tests. Be careful not to bend the probe or stir/
freeze wire.
2. Sample tube cleanliness is extremely important for repeatability.
Glass tubes should be washed in hot water containing a non-ion-
ic detergent, rinsed in distilled water, and thoroughly dried
before each use.
