If the instrument does not contain heat transfer fluid,
“Fluid
Required”
is briefly displayed, then
“Fluid Level=Empty”
.

G. Heat transfer fluid installation
CAUTION
The heat transfer fluid contains hazardous chemicals.
Consult the material safety data sheet (MSDS) and use
appropriate personal protective equipment.
1. Locate the funnel and two bottles of heat transfer fluid.
2. Open the magnetically held, drop-down cassette deck cover (see
figure 3) in the front of the 4C3 by pulling its frame forward
and down.
3. With the cassette deck cover dropped down, open the heat trans-
fer fluid port in the divider between the two sides of the sample
tray deck by removing the fluid fill plug (see figure 5).
4. Insert the funnel into the heat transfer fluid port.
5. Paying attention to the display, carefully pour heat transfer fluid
into the heat transfer fluid port. As the reservoir is filled, the
display will change from
“Fluid Level=Empty”
, to
“Fluid
Level=Low”
,
to
“Fluid Level= Half”
, and then to
“Fluid
Level=Full”
, and then
“Press START to Continue”
is con-
tinuously scrolled across the display. From
“Empty”
to
“Full”
