The ISO 5764 plateau seeking method is a new method approved in
mid-2002 and requires the use of a non-metallic sample probe. If
this probe was not provided with your instrument at the time of pur-
chase, then you may acquire one from Advanced Instruments, along
with any necessary firmware update. If you select the IDF 108B
seeking method, then you may use the stainless steel sample probe
supplied with your instrument at the time of purchase, or available
from Advanced Instruments.
Because each mode may read a slightly different portion of the pla-
teau, the calibration may be slightly different for each mode. The
4C3 stores the required calibration for each plateau mode and, when
a sample test is started, will display “ Recalibration Needed ” if no
calibration has yet been stored for the mode selected.
Press ENTER to store the new setting (or STOP to restore the orig-
inal setting).
12. Set % DFB
This menu item enables storing a ” base ” freezing point in the instru-
ment memory and displaying, with each sample test result, the per-
cent difference between the test result and the stored base. See the
Foreword for a discussion of this parameter.
At “Set % DFB” , press START to display “Base Reading =
xxx mC” (or xxx mH). The freezing point units displayed (mC or
mH) will be the same as the units selected for the regular freezing
point test displays.
At “Base Reading = xxx mC” (or xxx mH ), to change the base
value:
a. Press CLEAR to set the Base to 0. Then use the numeric key-
pad to enter the base value required. The < button may be used-
to delete numbers from the right.
